Quickmed Urgent Care receives grant from Departments of Health, Education to expand

Quickmed Urgent Care (QMUC) has been selected as the only for-profit organization to receive a grant from the Ohio Department of Health (ODH) and Ohio Department of Education (ODE) to increase the number of school-based health centers (SBHC) in qualifying schools.
The mission of the grant is to treat the whole child so they can remain in school healthy and ready to learn.
QMUC is partnering with Salem City School District, along with Liberty Local School District to position medical clinics on their campuses to meet the non-academic needs to support the whole child.
The $1.8 million awarded to QMUC, Salem City and Liberty Local Schools will extend to 2024. The grant will cover operational and capital expenses.
SBHC frameworks are shown to effectively improve student access to health care, as well as help close the gap in underserved communities.
A study conducted by ODE shows over 41% of school-aged children in Ohio received Medicaid benefits in 2021.
At Liberty Local Schools in particular, 65% of students received benefits. Salem City Schools had 51% of students who received benefits.
Available services at the clinics will include medical, dental, mental health, audiology and ophthalmology. The clinics will be open during school hours and available to students, staff and families.
