Police arrested a Warren woman on Saturday after passersby reported seeing her passed out behind the wheel of a car while two children stood outside waving traffic around the vehicle.

Warren Police officers went to Palmyra Road and York Avenue SW where they found 39-year-old Venita McCall in the driver’s seat and two boys, ages 10 and 11, in the back seat.

McCall denied drinking alcohol or driving the car.

Police say they could smell alcohol and found a red Solo cup on the floor containing a small amount of alcoholic beverage.

The boys told police that McCall, their cousin, had been driving the car.

After police say McCall refused to undergo a field sobriety test, they arrested her on two counts of child endangering, as well as driving under the influence and driving without a valid license.

The children were turned over to the care of a relative.

McCall was scheduled to answer the charges in Warren Municipal Court on Monday.
