Boardman Police searching for suspect after shots reportedly fired in apartment
Boardman Police responded to a call reporting possible gunfire in an apartment on Rockdale Avenue Thursday night just after 11:30 p.m.
Upon arrival police spoke with a woman who told officers that the suspect, who is the father of her child came up to her when she was trying to go to the bathroom and that he appeared to be very agitated.
The suspect allegedly came up to the woman in the bathroom with a handgun telling her that he was not going to hurt her, but demanded her to come home with him.
While the two were arguing, the woman began to struggle with him over the handgun allegedly causing a shot to accidentally be fired in the air.
Police then spoke to another witness who stated she was at the apartment for a cookout with some family members when the suspect showed up to get his children's mothers and his children.
The witness said after the first shot was fired, the suspect forced his way into the apartment firing more shots. The witness told police after she had claimed to hear police sirens, the suspect fled the scene taking one of the mothers along with his children with him.
The witness advised that it appeared that the mother was leaving against her will.
Police determined the location of the suspect's vehicle and found it behind a residence on N. Bon Air Avenue in Youngstown where the mother and children were located.
Police say the mother and children were cleared from the residence and did not appear to be in any danger. The suspect was not at the residence.
One witness told police that the suspect was arrested about one year ago for abducting one of the children with an AMBER alert being issued.
As of now, the suspect has not been found or identified yet.
