A Grove City man is in custody after allegedly trying to run over an officer.

The incident happened around 8:30 p.m. Sunday after State Police went to a home on the 200 block of Brent Road to execute an arrest warrant for 58-year-old John Barlow.

Officers found Barlow in a truck on the property and he began to drive away when they approached.

According to the report, a chase ensued and Barlow eventually went off-road into an area with rough terrain.

State police lost sight of him and searched the area on foot before seeing Barlow a considerable distance down the roadway.

Officers told Barlow to get out of the car but he drove towards one officer, causing him to fire at the car.

Barlow evaded police after the incident but he was later arrested at the Slippery Rock Campground in Butler County.

He is being held in the Mercer County Jail.
