According to a police report, a woman and her two sons were leaving the Waffle House early Sunday afternoon when a black SUV pulled up next to her car near Riblet Road.
The woman says when shots came from the SUV, she turned around and went back to the Waffle House to call for help.
Austintown detectives tell WFMJ News the 19-year-old son was taken to the hospital where he died.
A Ford Focus had at least one bullet hole near the front of the vehicle.

Several people showed up to hug and try to comfort the loved ones of the victim.
Several families were inside the Waffle House enjoying a Mother's Day Breakfast, while others stopped there to get food while traveling.
"Everybody started yelling and running and said call 911, someone was shot. Within minutes there were a bunch of sirens, police cars, and an ambulance here," Noelle Coggins said.
"I didn't hear any gunfire. I was just confused. It puts things in perspective," added Dominic McGuire.
Weathersfield, McDonald, and Youngstown Police assisted at the two scenes.
