The Hermitage Police Department and the community are coming together for Officer Jason Burnett.

Burnett unexpectedly lost his wife Jessy last week, a supermom of seven kids.

He's trying to focus on the good memories and is beyond grateful for all the support he's getting, so they can move forward.

"She was my best friend," Burnett said, "She was the best mom my kids could ask for."

Burnett was driving to work last week when his wife Jessy called him and said she had chest pains.

"Complete shock," he said, "We'd been hanging out...like every other night."

He immediately drove back home to find the paramedics there. Jessy, only 37, was transported to the hospital and her heart stopped. Doctors tried to revive her, but she didn't make it.

She left her seven kids, including three-year-old twins behind, but Burnett is being strong for them and remembering the kind of mother and human being she was.

He said she was truly selfless and "lived every bit of her life for everyone else."

"She never put herself for anything," he said, "Everything was about them up until the very end."

Now Burnett's family, church, pastor and the Hermitage Police Department are stepping in to help by creating a Go Fund Me page and donating extra sick days to Burnett.

"Everybody just kind of went into response mode and when it's one of your own or a family member it's no different," Deputy Chief Adam Piccirillo said, "We can't stop what he has to face but we can try to help ease some of those burdens any way we can."

Burnett said he can't find the words to describe how grateful he is for the support.

"We're blessed beyond what I could have ever asked for," he said.
