21 News Anchor nominated for two regional Emmy® Awards

Congratulations to 21 News Anchor Derek Steyer for his 2021 Emmy® Award nominations.
Steyer has been nominated by the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Central Great Lakes Chapter for two regional Emmys.
NATAS, which has more than 40 affiliated TV stations in parts of Ohio, Indiana and Pennsylvania, bases the nominations on creativity, content, and execution of work in television.
Steyer was nominated in two categories: Diversity/Equity/Inclusion and Video Journalist.
The two stories that received recognition include Steyer's report looking back on the 1946 handshake between Jackie Robinson, the first African-American player in mainstream professional baseball, and George Shuba, his white teammate from Youngstown.
The other piece nominated highlights Steyer's skills not only as a reporter that works in front of the camera, but as a video journalist behind the lens. Steyer shared the story of 16 year-old Nicholas Gardner who became a trailblazer for kids on the Autism spectrum.
Winners will be announced at the Great Lakes Regional Emmy® Awards Gala on June 25th.
