Boardman Police were called to Best Western, 7400 Tiffany South in Boardman Township, for reports of a person with a weapon around 11 am Thursday. 

Police were responding to a wellness check on a man who had checked out from the hotel, and while in the Best Western parking lot - according to Boardman Police Chief Todd Worth - the man pulled a gun and pointed the weapon at his own head.

According to the police, the man was from Florida but has connections with people in the Valley.

The man was taken into custody without incident. The police are investigating the incident and will determine if charges will be filed.
