Folks interested in attracting monarch butterflies into their garden can stop at the Mahoning County Extension Office (490, Broad St. Canfield) Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. to pick up milkweed seeds while supplies last.

Monarch caterpillars feed exclusively on the leaves of milkweed, which is the only host plant for monarch butterflies. Without it, they cannot complete their life cycle and their populations decline.

The cost is a suggested $2 donation. Packets contain about 50 seeds.

This offer will continue as long as supplies last. Seeds will be distributed on a first-come-first-serve basis with no holds.

Any further questions may be directed to the Mahoning County Extension Office at 330-533-5538.
