May is National Stroke Awareness Month and officials at Trumbull and Sharon Regional Medical Centers say all too often people don't know their options to reduce their risk of a stroke.

The hospital system warns that strokes are the fifth leading cause of death in the United States and they say, every year around 795,000 Americans experience a stroke.

Both, Trumbull Regional and Sharon Regional Medical Centers say they offer minimally invasive cardiac procedures that can help reduce a patients' risk of stroke.

Both hospitals are hosting free community events next week where people can learn more about their options.

Trumbull Regional's is on April 27th at 5 p.m. at the Grand Resort in the Pavilion in Warren, Ohio.

Sharon Regional's event is on April 28th at 5 p.m. at the Avalon at Buhl Park in Hermitage, Pennsylvania.
