Browns are now under investigation by the NFL for tanking allegations
The NFL is now investigating the Cleveland Browns for allegedly providing incentives to then head coach Hue Jackson to lose games during the 2016 and 2017 seasons.
An NFL spokesperson said in an emailed statement that former SEC chair Mary Jo White is leading an independent probe into allegations made by Jackson in February. White was also hired by the league to investigate the Miami Dolphins for allegedly bribing former head coach Brian Flores to lose games during the 2019 season.
According to Sports Illustrated, Jackson said "two years ago I tried to do this the right way, through the bylaws and constitution of the National Football League, to ask them to investigate the Cleveland Browns for all the allegations that I've made. So why open an investigation now?"
Jackson is now the head coach at Grambling State. The Browns were a combined 1-31 between 2016 and 2017.
