Warren JFK upper campus on active lockdown Wednesday afternoon
Warren John F. Kennedy Catholic School is on an active lockdown, according to an alert sent to parents Wednesday afternoon.
"Everyone is safe, we will not be answering the phone until lockdown is over and no one is permitted in or out of the building," the alert said.
The incident is reportedly happening on the upper campus, which hosts classrooms for 6th graders through high school seniors.
A letter sent to parents and obtained by 21 News says that their was an active threat that was found to be non-credible.
The letter sent by school president Joseph Kenneally and upper campus principal Alyse Consiglio reads:
"Dear Kennedy Family, This afternoon Warren City Dispatch called the Upper Campus and alerted us that a threat was called in to 911 regarding our building. The building was put on lockdown and law enforcement immediately responded to our campus. The call was investigated, the building was searched, and the threat was found to be non-credible. We decided to proceed with caution and canceled all after-school activities held on campus. After consulting with WCPD, we will be returning to campus in-person tomorrow.
"The safety of your students and our staff is our number one priority. Please remember that during all emergency situations, students should not be using their phones. We will communicate to teachers and to parents through official means (Parent Alert text) so that only the most accurate information is relayed.
"We strive to be as transparent as possible and keep the lines of communication open with the entire Kennedy family throughout all types of events."
Warren Police confirmed they are investigating the incident.
