Lowellville Board of Education names new superintendent
The Lowellville Board of Education has officially revealed the district's new superintendent at a meeting Tuesday evening.
The Board approved a contract with Christine Sawicki to serve as the school district's new superintendent after the recent departure of former superintendent, Geno Thomas.
Back in March, the Board completed interviews for the position. Sawicki was selected as the preferred candidate among a total of 18 candidates to choose from.
"Throughout the process, including multiple interviews, Christine stood out amongst the candidates because of her experience and background coupled with her unique understanding of our school system," said Board President, Stephanie Yon.
Yon described Sawicki as "very well respected in the [Lowellville] area" and states she was very highly recommended for the position.
Sawicki says she's eager to begin serving her new role as superintendent.
"I look forward to reconnecting and building new relationships with all those invested in the Lowellville community," Sawicki said.
Sawicki will officially begin her duties as superintendent at the beginning of August.
