In the category of Best Coverage of a Scheduled Event, 21 News anchor and reporter, Madison Tromler, and producer, Lauren Stebelton, win first place for their coverage of the 2021 Canfield Fair.
The judges said about the piece, "While the Canfield Fair wasn't the hardest of news, you can see how much care went into covering this planned event, and the coverage didn't ignore the harder news angle of how COVID might affect the event."
In the category of Best Feature Reporting, 21 News anchor, Derek Steyer, wins for his coverage of various feature stories.
Those pieces included detailing the recovery of a Hermitage teen recovering from a stroke he had in 2020, and two pieces of local kids, one of them battling cancer, and another battling a rare terminal disease.
The judges said about Steyer's work, "Well shot, well written, well-edited, and they pack a huge emotional punch. Some very powerful pieces here that really resonated with the judges."
