Popular YSU English Festival returns next week with in-person events

An event beloved by Northeast Ohio and Western Pennsylvania high school students is returning to Youngstown State's campus in early April.
The annual YSU English Festival is back on April 6, 7 and 8, 2022. The event had been held virtually in 2020 and 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. About 3,000 junior and senior high school students partake in the festival each year. YSU says its the longest-running book festival for teen readers in America.
There are a number of activities and competitions for students to partake in. The festival encourages students to read by only permitting those who have completed several books to attend.
Some students will get to meet the authors of those required works. Young adult authors Jo Knowles, Candace Fleming and Stacey Lee will make appearances at the festival. Virtual sessions with popular graphic artist Gareth Hinds and Chicago based educator Ronnell Whitaker will also take place.
Interested students can talk about the festival with their English educators or by visiting http://www.ysuenglishfestival.org/reg/ to see when their school is scheduled to attend.
