President Biden is warning American business owners that they could be a target of Russian cyber attacks for its support of ukraine.

"We pick up threats every single day. In the hundreds of thousands of attempts to hack our environment," said YSU I.T. expert Jim Yukech.

Yukech says he knows foreign-linked cyber groups are constantly testing our cyber infrastructure everyday, whether the target is our government, our private infrastructure or our banking institutions.

"W hen i look at the level of sophistication that our government has it is equal or surpassing what we would face from Russia or China. We are dependent on our First Energy's and our banking systems but the good news is those are also highly funded and highly protected," added Yukech.

The Russian ransomware attack on the Colonial pipeline last year was a big wake up call to all entities that anything can and will be hacked if measures aren't taken to create firewalls that can't be penetrated by would be criminals.

But while those major entities spend millions to keep safe, some local experts wonder if Russian hackers could target something more local and more vulnerable.

"We have some stuff out there that's pretty ancient that controls some pretty important things. For instance, a 911 facility was a 90's facility. Well, they didn't build those things with security vulnerabilities in mind. So something like that multiplied by thousands of these independent facilities is a cause for a little bit of concern," said Joe Danyi of Youngstown Computer.

Everyone from CEO's to private citizens should now be more weary of cyber attacks that could launch with just a click on a link.
