Man arraigned following Sharon shooting that sent victim to trauma center
Sharon Police and the Mercer County District Attorney are investigating a Farrell man after a shooting that left a 26-year-old in a trauma unit on Sunday.
Officers responded to the 200 block of Mesabi Street near the Shenango Valley Freeway in Sharon for reports of a shooting. They found the 26-year-old male victim was shot in his lower extremities. The victim was transported to a local trauma center to receive treatment. His condition is currently unknown.
Police say Jarrett Samuels, 26, was arrested and arraigned on Aggravated Assault charges Monday morning in connection with the shooting. Samuels remains in the Mercer County Jail on a $75,000 bond.
Mercer County District Attorney Peter Dacker was made aware of the incident Sunday evening.
"There is no indication this was an incidental shooting," Dacker said on Monday.
Other specifics of the investigation are currently unknown.
The Sharon Police Department has not yet responded for request to comment.
