Bond set at $1M for man arrested in connection with Hanover homicide
Bond is set at $1 million for a man arrested following the murder of a Hanover Township woman.
Justin Givens, 27, of Washington Township, was appeared for a video arraignment on Monday to answer a charge of having a weapon under a disability.
According to a court document, as part of the Sheriff Department’s investigation into the homicide of 67-year-old Mary Ann McGuire at her Depot Road home last Friday, deputies searched Givens’ property on Route 644.
The search uncovered a .22 caliber rifle in Givens’ pickup truck, according to an affidavit which also states that in January of last year, Givens was arrested for improperly handling a firearm in a motor vehicle.
During his arraignment on Monday, Judge Katelyn Dickey set bond for Givens at $1 million and scheduled another hearing for next week.
An investigator for the Columbiana County Coroner’s Office tells 21 News that the cause of McGuire’s death will be determined after the results of an autopsy.
McGuire’s body was found by a family member shortly before noon Friday on the porch of her home.
As of Monday morning, court records show no one has been charged with murder in connection with the case.
