A fire claimed the life of a woman in Newton Falls.

The fire happened Saturday afternoon around 1:30 p.m. on Newton Drive.

Newton Falls Joint Fire District Interim Chief Donald Byrd told 21 News that a 68-year-old woman was killed in the blaze.

Multiple departments responded to the home, finding flames and smoke pouring out of it.

The cause of the fire has yet to be determined but the State Fire Marshals Office is investigating.
