Trucks passing over a bridge in rural Mercer County will now have to go one at a time.

Officials with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation say the new restrictions apply to the Route 208 bridge on Johnston Run in Harbor Creek Township.

The restrictions were put in place after a routine inspection found deterioration. Officials say the restrictions will reduce the strain on the bride until repairs or a replacement can be made. There is no official time table for the repair, but until its fixed about 4,000 drivers a day will be affected.

The bridge was built in 1935 and widened in 1984.

A listing of northwest bridges posted with weight restrictions is available at www.penndot.pa.gov/District1.
