Mahoning County Treasurer, Dan Yemma announced on Thursday that property owners have been receiving their first-half real estate tax bills in the mail for approximately 166,000 parcels.

Final bills for taxpayers who are on the county's Tax Installment Program (TIP) have been mailed as well. The deadline to pay without penalty is Friday, March 11.

Property owners who do not receive their statements by February 28 should call the Treasurers Office at 330-740-2460 to confirm payment amounts or request copies of bills.

Yemma says that those choosing to pay taxes online using electronic check will be able to do so without any fees until March 25. The fee is normally 61 cents per transaction.

The fee waiver only applies to electronic check payments. Transaction fees for credit card payments will still apply.

Paperless tax bills are also available. Taxpayers can take advantage of this by going on the Mahoning County Treasurer's website and clicking on "authorization form."

From there, they can fill it out and either email it to mahoningcountytreasurer@mahoningcountyoh.gov or deliver it in person to the Mahoning County Treasurer's Office at 120 Market St. in Youngstown.

The office is conducting normal business hours during 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but due to COVID-19 restrictions, all payments are encouraged to be made electronically or via mail.

All payments postmarked on or before March 11 will be processed as on time payments.

Approximately $288 million has been charged to the Mahoning County tax duplicate for the tax year of 2021. The money is dispersed to beneficiaries of each taxing district with the largest percentage going to public school districts.

Additional funds are disbursed according to countywide voted levels for townships, parks, services developmental and mental disabilities, libraries, senior citizens and more.
