After a power outage that left more than 8,000 people in the dark Tuesday night and early Wednesday morning, an Ohio Edison spokesperson tells 21 News they've identified the root of the problem.

"We've narrowed it down, and we've found that it is a piece of equipment within the substation.", said Lauren Siburkis.

However, a permanent solution is still in the works.

"We're hopeful that we will get the those repairs made within the next few days.", she added.

That answer follows weeks of frustration from many people, and businesses in the area.

"We have candles in permanent spots, at least 20 through our apartment.", says Makayla Murphy, who lives in Austintown.

These power outages also pose potential harm to those with health issues

"My husband has a pacemaker, who is going to pay for it if it blows up.", adds Martha Weems, also an Austintown resident.

It's also left local restaurants and other businesses in the dark, on numerous occasions.

"It's cash only at that point and you know how America is, the world is not a cash only business anymore.", emphasized Filomena Riccioni of Wedgewood Pizza.

21 News received more than a dozen emails and phone calls regarding the power outage.

Lauren Siburkis says the utility provider understands peoples' frustrations and says they've been working to fix these issues for weeks
