Senator Brown urges colleagues to confirm Marisa Darden as Northern District Attorney

U.S. Senator, Sherrod Brown is urging his colleagues to confirm Marisa Darden to be the U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Ohio.
If confirmed, Darden would be the first African American woman to serve as U.S. Attorney for the Northern District. Darden is awaiting confirmation by the full Senate, but is being blocked by Republican objections.
Senator Brown says Darden is "an extremely qualified nominee that is ready and eager to serve our community."
"Marisa Darden is a seasoned prosecutor with extensive experience. Today, let's come together to get qualified and talented law enforcement professionals on the job," Brown said.
Earlier in the month, the Senate confirmed the nominations of Bridget Brennan, Charles Fleming and Judge David Ruitz to serve as U.S. District Court Judges for Ohio's Northern District.
Once sworn in, Brennan will become the fifth woman, Fleming will become the only Black man on active duty status and Ruiz would become the first Latino Article III Judge to serve the Northern District.
