Flags will be lowered to half staff in the City of Struthers to honor a longtime judge that has passed away.

The lowering of the flags is to honor Judge James Lanzo, who passed away on February 10th at the age of 77.

Lanzo served on the bench at Struthers Municipal Court for more than 20 years, retiring in 2017 at the age of 73.

Before becoming a judge in Struthers, Lanzo served the community in a number of positions.

From 1973-1993, Lanzo served as Village Solicitor for Lowellville and as Law Director and Prosecutor for Struthers Municipal Court from 1976-1994.

He was elected as Struthers Municipal Court Judge in 1993. During that time, he also was an instructor at Youngstown State University.

Flags will be lowered at all city buildings and grounds from Tuesday morning through Thursday night.
