Vallourec to hold hiring event
A major valley employer that just two years ago was announcing layoffs, is now hiring again.
Vallourec in Girard is holding a hiring event next week for over 60 new workers.
"Business is on the upswing right here and we are trying to ramp up with it," said Vallourec manager, Jake Buzard.
Vallourec saw a drop of activity in the oil and gas industry a couple years ago but since that time they found new customers to make steel tube for.
They're now making tube for the geothermal and hydrogen storage industries.
Since business is good they plan to hold a job fair on January 14th and 15th and their Girard offices.
They are looking for blue and white collar workers, everything from laborers to engineers.
"We ask that you apply before the hiring event. There is an assessment for you to take and when you come into the facility we will have operators there to ask questions about the jobs we have available and we will also do interviews and we will also do hiring," said David Macek, Vallourec H.R.
Don't have steel work experience? You can still apply.
"We've got a pretty rigorous skill base development program where we can take somebody who maybe doesn't have that industrial experience and bring them in and get them some pretty good training," added Buzard.
If you're planning to attend the hiring event, bring your resume.
Vallourec is offering $1000-$2000 hiring incentives along with what they call competitive pay, benefits and bonuses.
