Union members protest outside Austintown Chick-fil-a site with giant inflatable rat
What's the deal with the giant inflatable rat on Mahoning Avenue?
It's all part of a union protest.
Local unioned construction workers stood along Mahoning Avenue to protest the decision to use non-unioned workers to build the fast-food restaurant's new location.
The contractor hired for the build, Dalo Construction, is based out of Tipp City near Dayton.
The protesting construction workers raised several concerns with the construction, including their desire to make sure that the contracted workers are paid and treated fairly.
One union representative mentioned that the workers continue to work on Sunday's, despite the Chick-fil-a company being closed on Sunday for employees to rest.
21 News has reached out to Chick-fil-a for comment and is waiting for a response.
