The Youngstown Nighthawks, a semi-professional arena soccer team is hosting tryouts Sunday, Dec. 19 at 8:30 p.m. at Farmer Jim's Sports Complex. 

The Nighthawks belong to the Premier Arena Soccer League (PASL), a feeder-league to the tier-one Major Arena Soccer League. The team was established in 2014 and is owned by Josh Auden, who just completed his second season as head coach of the Ursuline boys soccer team.

Tryouts are open to male soccer players 17-years-old or older looking to further their career in soccer, or elevate their game into a higher level of competition. Those seeking to tryout are asked to arrive at 8:00 p.m. for registration, with tryouts commencing at 8:30 p.m. The tryout fee is $75. 

The season runs from January to the end of March, with Nationals being played in Chicago. As of now, local games will be held at Farmer Jim's Sports Complex in Cortland. The team will be led by Head Coach Corey Reinard, who is in his first year with the team. 

In 2018, the Nighthawks made a run at Nationals, finishing the campaign third in the nation. There was no season last year due to COVID-19.
