Changes could be coming to the leadership of the Youngstown City School District soon.

According to an agenda item on the Akron Public Schools Board of Education meeting for Monday, December 13, Youngstown Schools CEO Justin Jennings could be accepting a position within the district.

The meeting agenda lists an item recommending the employment of Justin Jennings as Chief of Leadership & Learning/Assistant Superintendent. It lists an annual salary of $183,102.07 for the position.

According to the item, his employment would be effective on January 3, 2022.

The Youngstown City School District could not comment on the potential move but said Jennings will release a statement Monday.

21 News has reached out to board members with Akron Public Schools about when Jennings would start with the district but has not heard back as of this writing.

The news about Jennings comes just a few days after the Ohio Department of Education approved Youngstown City School's proposed academic improvement plan to move out of state control.

As the district moves out of state control, the CEO position would be eliminated.

YCSD has been under the academic distress commission since 2010.
