A Canfield Middle School student has been charged after allegedly making a terroristic threat to students.

According to Canfield Assistant Police Chief, Scott Weimer, the school was notified of a threat on Monday after a parent alerted the school that a student had overheard another student talking about a "hit list" of students.

Weimer tells 21 News that the school has a "see something, say something" system encouraging communication among students, parents and the school. Once the school was notified, the resource officer was notified as well and the student was promptly identified.

Once identified, the 14-year-old student was removed from the student population immediately and was taken to the hospital for an evaluation and was charged with Inducing Panic and Making Terroristic threats.

An all-call was sent out to parents after the fact to notify them of the situation.

Weimer tells 21 News that the student is still in the hospital and once he is out, he will be transferred to the Juvenile Justice Center.
