The Mount Union Purple Raiders football team has advanced to the DIV. III NCAA Semifinals for the first time since 2018 after defeating Muhleberg 35-29 in overtime on Saturday.

Plunk went 38 of 56 passing overall for 465 yards, a touchdown and two interceptions. Josh Petruccelli and DeAndre Parker each scored twice on the ground, as Petruccelli finsihed with a game-high 105 rushing yards on 15 attempts.

Mount Union will host North Central on Saturday, Dec. 11 at 12:00 p.m. noon, from Mount Union Stadium.

The Purple Raiders got to the Semifinals byway of defeating Washington & Lee 52-0 in the first round, Johns Hopkins 45-35 in the second round last week, and Saturday's overtime win against Muhlengerg.

Next week's game will be the third ever between the two school, who have split each of the first two.

The winner will take on the winner of a Semifinal match-up between No. 2 Mary Hardin-Baylor (Texas) at No. 3 ranked Wisconsin-Whitewater in the 2021 Amos Alonzo Stagg Bowl, at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium on Friday, Dec. 17.
