As a child did you ever have a Pen Pal?

The United States Postal Service is looking to inspire friendships and the understanding of diverse perspectives by giving students a reason to write letters.

The USPS Pen Pal Project is a partnership with WeAreTeachers and is a free educational opportunity for students in 3rd-5th grade,

The project will match 25,000 classrooms around the country. In all, students will write 1 million letters.

According to the USPS, each classroom will receive a kit with a teaching poster, cards, and envelopes. The USPS hopes the program will help improve writing, communication, and collaboration skills.

Schools that are interested in taking part can learn more and sign up WeAreTeachers.com.
