The Thiel College Department of Athletics announced today the appointment of Andrew Geisler to interim head football coach.
He follows former head coach Mike Winslow who left to pursue other opportunities.
Now in his third year with the Tomats, Geisler has served as the defensive backs coach since 2019. In 2021, he was promoted to co-defensive coordinator/defensive backs.
Before coming to Thiel, Geisler worked with NCAA Division I Cornell University's defense and special teams. He has held positions as a defensive quality control coach at NCAA Division II California University (Pa.) and as an assistant line coach at Shady Side Academy in Pittsburgh. He worked as a strength and conditioning intern at Saint Vincent College (Pa.).
Geisler played NCAA Division III football at Saint Vincent College. He was a captain in 2015 and the team's defensive player of the year in 2014. He earned a bachelor's degree in biology from Saint Vincent in 2016.
"We deeply appreciate Coach Winslow's contributions to the program and wish him the best in his future endeavors," said Thiel College President Susan Traverso, Ph.D.
The Tomcats open the 2022 season on Sept. 3. Thiel College is a proud member of the Presidents' Athletic Conference.
