Cortland's Christmas tree lighting event to feel 'like a Hallmark movie'
The Cortland community is coming together Saturday evening for the city's tree lighting.
Just Pizzelles has planned the new community event that is designed to make you feel like you're in a Hallmark movie.
The event starts around 3 p.m. when horse-drawn carriage rides begin. The rides are free through the Cortland Rotary and Cortland Bank.
Santa and Mrs. Claus will be in Cortland between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. They will arrive via horse-drawn carriage and visit with children and hand out goodie bags.
The city's Christmas tree lighting will take place in the courtyard area across from Cortland Bank at 6 p.m.
Other activities will continue after the tree lighting.
The Cortland Lions Club, Just Pizzelles and Cortland Sparkle will be handing out complimentary cookies and hot cocoa.
Lakeview High School band and choir students will be playing music during the tree lighting.
The Lakeview Teachers Association will also have an ornament-making station set up. The ornaments can be placed on the community tree in the area.
