The Mahoning County OVI Task Force has released the results from two checkpoints over the weekend.

The checkpoints were held in Austintown between 10 p.m. and 3 a.m. late Friday into early Saturday morning.

The first checkpoint was held at 4545 New Road near St. Joseph Church and the second was on Route 46 near Hollywood Gaming.

318 vehicles passed through the checkpoints and five were directed to the diversion area.

Officers made three arrests for OVI, gave two citations for seatbelt violations and one summons for no operator's license.

During the first checkpoint on New Road, one car did not stop and was pursued by officers. They attempted a traffic stop but the driver fled the scene. The car was found abandoned nearby and the driver fled on foot.

The incident is under investigation and charges of felony drug abuse, failure to comply and obstructing official business are pending.
