State Police continue their investigation into a fatal crash involving a school bus carrying teenagers, most of them from Mercer County.

Fourteen-year-old Brylee Walker of Hermitage died Tuesday afternoon when the bus rear-ended a tractor-trailer on Interstate 79 in Butler County.

 The Lincoln Park Performing Arts Charter School announced on its website stated that the teen was a student there. The bus driver has been identified as 31-year-old, Lindsay Thompkins of Aliquippa.

Police say the fourteen-year-old girl was sitting behind Thompkins when the crash occurred.

Two other girls, a 13-year-old, and a 17-year-old from Jamestown were flown by medical helicopters to UMPC hospitals with serious injuries.  State police new describe their conditions as stable.

In addition, a 14-year-old girl from Slippery Rock and a 15-year-old girl from Volant were also taken to UPMC Children’s Hospital for treatment of injuries described as minor.

Other teens who were examined by EMT’s but not transported to hospitals include another 14-year-old girl from Hermitage; a 14-year-old boy, a 16-year-old girl, and a 13-year-old boy, all from Grove City; a 13-year-old girl and 14-year-old boy, both from Farrell; as well a girl from Slippery Rock and a boy from Kennerdell, both 17-years-old.

Neither the truck driver, nor his passenger, both from Canada, were injured.
