Images show damage in crash that claimed lives of Salem teacher, Alliance man
Official accident scene photographs released by the Ohio State Highway Patrol show the extent of damage to two cars involved in a head-on crash that claimed the lives of a Salem school teacher and an Alliance man.
Three images were released by the patrol. One shows extensive front-end damage to a black Nissan Altima that troopers say was being driven by Jonathan Walter, 28, of Alliance, when it went left of center along State Route 183 in Lexington Township in Stark County early Tuesday.
Another photo shows a blue Ford Fusion along the side of the road. The patrol says the Fusion, being driven by 32-year-old Salem High School math teacher, Kera Lemasters-Leskovec, of Atwater, was struck head-on by the Nissan.
Both drivers died in the crash. The patrol is still investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
Salem school officials say Lemasters-Leskovec, is the mother of a six-month-old child, and recently lost her husband Kevin to COVID-19.
The school is offering grief counseling.
