Local truck driver celebrates retirement, 3 million miles without accident
A local trucker celebrated his retirement along with 3 million miles driven without an accident on Friday morning.
According to Yellow's Terminal Manager, Mandy McHenry 3 million miles equals 83 trips around the entire planet. McHenry also said that during his time at Yellow, Harley was an exceptional worker.
"He does a lot for our company, he does a lot for our city, he does a lot for his family and for his coworkers and that needs to be acknowledged and appreciated," McHenry said.
Harley and his developmentally disabled son were escorted from the turnpike pad at exit 232 back to the Yellow terminal by OSP troopers, a Mahoning County sheriff's deputy and Beaver County police officers.
Upon arrival, Harley was greeted by his coworkers line up outside the terminal cheering him on, as well as a gathering featuring baked goods and coffee. Harley's son was also given Yellow swag including a t-shirt as well as a hat.
Harley tells 21 News he's made a lot of good friends at the company and says he managed to go this far without a single accident by "just paying attention."
