Allegheny County Airport Authority annual auction returns in person Saturday

The Annual Allegheny County Airport Authority's auction is returning in person for 2021 on Saturday, Oct. 23.
The auction will be located at the heavy equipment building on Cargo Rd. Doors open at 8:30 a.m. and the auction itself starts at 10:00 a.m. with two years worth of personal items left behind to bid on from a firetruck and electronics to dress shoes and abandoned vehicles.
Nearly 1,000 pieces of jewelry will be auctioned as well including silver and gold pieces along with over 500 electronic items, nine abandoned vehicles, runway brooms, plows and a firetruck.
Other unclaimed items include an elf on the shelf, lava lamp, portable toilet seat, rice cooker and a pair of high-end designer dress shoes.
There will be a 15 percent buyer's premium with five percent waived for cash or check purchase. Cash, check and cards will all be accepted.
In addition to live bids, items can be purchased through auctioneer Joe R. Pyle's website.
Masks and social distancing will be required.
Food trucks will also be at the event serving breakfast and lunch foods.
Proceeds from the items sold that are not owned by the airport authority will go to the ACAA Charitable Foundation, which helps support the airport's military lounge, Art in the Airport program, aviation scholarships and workforce developments.
