A part of Parkhill Drive in Youngstown is being renamed to honor a local civil rights and community leader.

The part of Parkhill Drive near Third Baptist Church will be renamed to Rev. Morris W. Lee Avenue during a dedication ceremony Sunday.

Rev. Lee was a respected community leader and civil rights activist in the Valley for years before passing away in 2019.

He served as the moderator for the Northern Ohio Baptist District Association, Director of Music for the Ohio General Baptist Convention, Chairman of the Trumbull Baptist Neighborhood Ministries Committee, President of the Youngstown Ministerial Association and President of the Mahoning Valley Council of Churches.

Sunday would have been Rev. Lee's 61st anniversary as pastor and the church's 147th anniversary.
