Canfield man arrested on sex charges after allegedly responding to undercover ad

A Canfield man is behind bars facing charges after allegedly responding to an undercover online ad requesting sexual contact with a 15-year-old girl.
Timothy Bruner, 54, is accused of responding to an ad posted on a known prostitution website by the Mahoning County Human Trafficking Task Force.
The undercover ad was a mother, offering her 15-year-old daughter for sex in exchange for money. Bruner's charges include compelling prostitution, attempt and possessing criminal tools.
According to a report, on October 8th, Bruner left his job at Akron Children's Hospital early and drove to the agreed meeting location in East Palestine where he was taken into custody.
In a statement Akron Children's Hospital said that Bruner was in a non-patient facing role with the hospital, but has since been terminated per hospital policy.
Bruner was also a part time employee at Canfield's Cardinal Joint Fire District. Fire Chief Don Hutchinson said in a statement that Bruner is now on unpaid administrative leave pending the investigation. Hutchinson says that Bruner has not recently been active in the department due to a medical condition.
Bruner's preliminary hearing is set for October 28th in a Columbiana County court. His bond is set at $20,000.
