The Leetonia Exempted School District has imposed a temporary mask mandate for the next two weeks.

A letter to families sent on Thursday notes a “significant” increase in positive COVID-19 cases and quarantines over the past week.

According to the school system’s website, four students in the elementary school and 17 students in the junior-senior high school have tested positive since August 9.  No staff member cases have been reported in the period.

The face-covering mandate applies to students and staff for all indoor events during and after school effective Friday, October 8, 2021.

The policy will be reviewed in two weeks, according to the letter.
