Niles Police have charged a student for alleged threats directed toward the high school.

According to police, shortly before 9 a.m. Thursday, school Resource Officer Steve Corll received information related to a possible threat against Niles High School.

Police say a social media post from a suspended 15-year-old Niles High School student contained information and images that appeared to be a threat against the school.

Officer Corll alerted the command staff at the Police Department and found the student’s address.

Officers from the Niles Police Investigative Bureau went to the address of the student where they confiscated a crossbow and the student's cell phone.

Police have released a photo of an image on the phone showing a crossbow with the text "be ready" and "Niles McKinley High School".

The student, whose name has not been released, was taken to the Trumbull County Juvenile Justice Center on a charge of Inducing Panic, a felony of the 2nd degree.

Police say there is currently no further threat to the school.
