Former Southington teacher pleads guilty to sexual interactions with former student

Former Southington teacher, Craig Lefkowitz (51) pleaded guilty on Thursday to charges relating to inappropriate sexual activity with a former student 15 years ago.
In April of 2021, Lefkowitz was arrested after Trumbull County Sheriff, Paul Monroe received a complaint about the inappropriate activity. According to Monroe, this activity allegedly occurred from the former student's freshman year to senior year of high school.
Lefkowitz was indicted with nine counts of sexual battery and one count of compelling prostitution. According to his indictment, Lefkowitz allegedly knowingly paid or agreed to pay a minor to engage in sexual activity.
Lefkowitz has been licensed to teach since 1996 and was employed by Southington for 21 years. He previously served as the school's athletic director, computer teacher, junior high volleyball coach and spirit club advisor according to his former webpage on the district's website.
