The Youngstown man accused of causing a crash that knocked out power to hundreds of homes and businesses in Trumbull County faces nine charges filed by police and state troopers.

Steven Jeter Jr., 30, was arraigned by video in Warren Municipal Court Thursday on charges of failure to comply with a police order, reckless operation, failing to stop for a school bus, driving left of center, ignoring a traffic control device, failure to stop after an accident, driving with a suspended license, and driving with fictitious planes.

Troopers say Jeter was driving a Dodge Challenger that crashed along State Route 45 at around 8 a.m. Wednesday as he was allegedly trying to elude a Champion Police officer that had tried to pull him over along Housel Craft Road.

The Patrol says Jeter’s car drove left of center around stopped traffic and struck a Dodge Dart being driven by a juvenile female that was turning onto Route 45 from Route 305.

Jeter’s car then struck a Cadillac that was stopped at a traffic light.

The Challenger then drove off the road, striking two telephone poles before overturning into a ditch.

Debris from the telephone poles struck a 2014 Chevrolet Cruze which was parked in the Dollar General parking lot.

No one was seriously injured, but power was cut to more than 700 FirstEnergy customers for a couple of hours and Route 45 had to be closed while crews repaired the downed lines.

Jeter pleaded not guilty to the charges and is being held in jail on $50,000 bond as he awaits another court hearing scheduled for next week.
