Lisbon High School volleyball team hosts 'Volley for Melina' for Childhood Cancer Awareness Month

September is Childhood Cancer Awareness month and the Lisbon High School volleyball team hosted "Volley for Melina" Thursday night to honor it as well as the Melina Michelle Edenfield Foundation.
The issue of pediatric cancer hits close to home for the team, as the team lost their "littlest fan," 4-year-old Melina Edenfield in 2020 due to a brain tumor.
Melina's father, Keith Edenfield is Lisbon High School's principal. As such, his daughter has become a fixture in the stands at the school's volleyball games.
Under the guidance of Lisbon High School volleyball head coach, Maddy Wrask, the team organized the Melina Michelle Edenfield Foundation to benefit the foundation established in Melina Edenfield's memory.
The Blue Devils faced off against United High School for this special event. Aside from the game, the team has created fundraising festivities such as a Chinese Raffle. Homemade bracelets from senior, McKenna Daily were also available for purchase with all proceeds going to the foundation.
There was also a "Serve-a-Thon" between Junior Varsity and Varsity contests, in which participants purchased an entry to serve the ball toward a prize of their choosing. All proceeds and donations went towards the Melina Michelle Edenfield Foundation.
This is the second fundraiser the team has hosted to honor Melina Edenfield and the foundation established in her memory to fund pediatric brain tumor research.
