State Troopers suspect drugs may have been a factor in a three-vehicle crash that claimed two lives and hospitalized two others in Trumbull County.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol says 35-year-old Brandon Grove of Akron was killed when his Chevy Trailblazer ran a red light and struck a crossover SUV before turning over at State Route 534 and Route 5 just after 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Grove was partially ejected from the Trailblazer which caught fire.

A passenger in the crossover, 34-year-old April Davis of Leavittsburg, was taken to University Hospital in Portage County where she died of her injuries.

Troopers say that neither Grove nor Davis was wearing seat belts.

The driver of the crossover, 38-year-old David Davis, and a ten-year-old passenger were also taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

A third vehicle involved in the crash, a Ford Edge SUV, was damaged when the other car was pushed into it by the Trailblazer.  The third driver was not seriously injured.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol Crash Reconstruction Unit is assisting with the crash investigation.
