State Representative Mike Loychik was in Cortland Sunday to present a grant to a local chapter of non-profit Sleep in Heavenly Peace.

The non-profit is a national organization that builds beds, as well as provides mattresses and bedding, for families in need.

Loychik presented a $100,000 check to the program, coming from the State of Ohio's operating budget.

"When we started we weren't sure we were gonna be able to make our storage fee payments every month. Now having this money, it's going to make a world of difference for this chapter," said Chelsea Munroe, Chapter President of Sleep in Heavenly Peace Trumbull County.

After the Supreme Court ruled the national eviction moratorium unconstitutional, this program is needed now more than ever.

Local mother Alex'zandrea Elliott received new beds for her children from Sleep in Heavenly Peace.

"I'm full of every emotion. I don't know what to say, what to do, all I can do is just smile right now," said Elliot.

Sleep in Heavenly Peace provided 14 beds to kids ages 3 through 17 around the Niles and Warren area just today.
