Columbiana receives grant for new dog park

The City of Columbiana is one step closer to having a new dog park after receiving a grant from the Columbiana Community Foundation
The grant totals $25,000 and will go toward funding a fenced in 1-acre dog park near the Walking Trail in Firestone Recreational Park.
"We're so thankful for the Columbiana Community Foundation grant as it pushes us closer to making the Firestone Dog Park a reality," explained City Manager Lance Willard in a statement. "There's still work to be done and it's happening with the support of local businesses, families and individuals. This is truly a community project and I know many of us are looking forward to seeing our dogs enjoy this safe, welcoming space to run, jump and play for years to come."
With the addition of this grant, the city has raised more than $72,700 toward the construction of the dog park. They are accepting donations online, and have more community fundraising events planned.
Future events include a 'Yappy Hour' at Homestead Kitchen & Cocktails on August 26th from 3 to 7 p.m., and the 'Columbiana Craft Beerfest 2021: Ales for Tails' on October 9th from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Firestone Farms' Town Center.
Features of the upcoming dog park will include double gates for safety, separate runs for small and large dogs, water stations, park benches, dog waste stations, and more.
