Southington teacher indicted on sexual battery, compelling prostitution charges

A Southington Local Schools teacher and coach has been indicted on sexual battery and compelling prostitution charges.
A Trumbull County Grand Jury indicted Craig Lefkowitz, 51, on nine counts of sexual battery and one count of compelling prostitution on Wednesday.
Back in April, Lefkowitz was arrested after Trumbull County Sheriff Paul Monroe said that they received a complaint about inappropriate sexual activity with a former student from 15 years ago. Monroe said that this allegedly occurred during the course of the victim's 9th grade through senior year at the district.
According to Wednesday's indictment, Lefkowitz allegedly knowingly paid or agreed to pay a minor so that the minor would engage in sexual activity.
Lefkowitz, who has been licensed to teach since 1996, has been employed by the Southington Local Schools for 21 years. His school webpage previously stated he was the athletic director, computer teacher, junior high volleyball coach and spirit club advisor. His page is now unavailable on the school's website.
21 News did reach out to the school after hours for comment.
