Citizens of Youngstown will have three chances this month to share their thoughts on the best way the city can spend $82.7 million federal stimulus dollars from the American Rescue Plan.

The ARP was approved by Congress to support communities that are struggling in the wake of COVID-19 including distribution of funding to keep front-line workers on the job, and making sure people are vaccinated.

Three Youngstown City Council members have scheduled the first of a summer series of listening sessions for residents and neighborhood groups to discuss their priorities for local allocation.

City Council representatives as well as members of the administration and a planning team will attend the meetings to gather feedback and listen to priorities.

Those attending will be asked to complete printed surveys available at the sessions. Data gathered from the surveys and meetings will be used to form the City's plan.

Dates Announced:

  • 6th Ward Councilwoman Anita Davis - Coffee and Conversations at Flambeau's Live (2308 Market Street), June 12th at 10 AM
  •  3rd Ward Councilwoman Samantha Turner,  - Jewish Community Center (505 Gypsy Lane), June 15th at 6 PM
  • 5th Ward Councilwoman Lauren McNally - Kirkmere Park, June 29th at 6 PM   (please bring a lawn chair)

More dates for listening sessions will be released as dates are confirmed.

Those unable to attend in-person meetings over the summer may complete the "Youngstown American Rescue Plan Survey (linked here)"

Youngstown received the first half of the allocation in May and expects to receive the second half next year.
